Used in conjunction with your ruffler, the shirring plate helps to add depth to your ruffles, allowing you to make rows of ruffles or deep ruffled hems. Using just a ruffler, you can ruffle the edge of the fabric. When adding a shirring plate to the bed of the machine, it allows for more ruffling.
